Padel fans, you weren’t disappointed! The Gijón P2 tournament served up some seriously exciting action, with both the men’s and women’s finals delivering memorable moments.

Let’s start with the men. History was made as Francisco “Curro” Cabeza and Diego Garcia stormed to victory. These young guns, at just 17 and 18 years old respectively, are now the youngest team to ever claim a title on the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour. Talk about setting the bar high! They faced off against the always-entertaining Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso in a final that had us on the edge of our seats. Huge congratulations to Curro and Diego for their remarkable achievement. And the impact doesn’t stop there! Their victory has catapulted them up the rankings: Diego Garcia soared 139 places to become number 83, while Francisco “Curro” Cabeza climbed 108 spots to number 68.

Over on the women’s side, we witnessed a comeback for the ages. Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay showed us what grit and determination truly look like. After a tough 0-6 first set, many would have counted them out. But Delfi and Gemma dug deep, rallied, and turned the match around, securing a fantastic victory. Their resilience was truly inspiring, and they proved why they’re a force to be reckoned with. Also, following their victory, Gemma Triay moved up one position to 3rd in the world and Delfi Brea remains at number 5.
